Hotel Information

Because the Centro Cultural Universitário at the Universidad Autonóma de Yucatán is in the center of the city, there are many, many hotels to choose from that will meet every budget. There is no official conference hotel. Here are some of the reasonably-priced hotels that our hosts have used personally or for visiting family, friends, and scholars that are within 1-3 blocks of the Centro Cultural Universitario:

  • Casa del Balam
  • Luz en Yucatan
  • Gran Hotel
  • Hotel Caribe
  • Maison Mérida
  • Hotel Casa Lucia
  • Meson de Embajador Hotel
  • Hotel San Juan
  • Hotel Medio Mundo

While the number of AirBnBs is increasing every day, our hosts have found that those that describe themselves as being close to the Centro are a bit “disingenuous.” What is described as a 10-minute walk is actually a 30-minute walk. There are very few, if any, AirBnBs that are as close to our meeting site as the hotels listed.

Mérida is served by Manuel Crescencio Rejón International Airport (airport code MID). Airlines that service Mérida are United, Delta/Aeroméxico, and American/Interjet, flying into either Mexico City with connection or into Mérida directly.
